Brief Description
- The faculty members are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses as well as supervising and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
- Participate in committee(s) and other activities of the department.
- Build an independent research program, which complements and enhances ongoing research activities in the field and leads to publication and external funding, as well as to provide service to the department, the college, the university, and the community.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must hold bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering.
- Must hold a master’s and a Ph.D. degree in computer science or a closely related computing field.
- Must have obtained all education qualifications from accredited universities in a traditional residential, on-campus format and according to the applicable laws and regulations of Kuwait University.
- Must have a distinguished teaching experience in undergraduate and graduate levels as commensurate with the rank and according to the applicable laws and regulations of Kuwait University. Must demonstrate teaching experience in a broad range of core computer science courses such as (but not limited to) data structures, algorithms, computer systems, software engineering, and theory of computation.
- Must have strong research records and publications in reputable international journals as commensurate with the rank and according to the applicable laws and regulations of Kuwait University and promotion system of Kuwait University.
- Must demonstrate significant research activity (grants and publications) in one or more of the areas mentioned above with the research primarily focusing on software aspects.
- Must be specialized in either theory of computation, machine learning, cybersecurity, or bioinformatics.
- Appointment to the rank of the professor requires:
• A minimum of 15 full-length research papers (not extracted from MS thesis or Ph.D. dissertation), published in refereed international journals.
• The 15 full-length research papers must be in the area of specialization with a minimum of three publications in the last five years.
• The applicant must be the first author in at least eight of the 15 publications mentioned above.
• Serving as an associate professor for at least four academic years at a university, college, or institution. - Appointment to the rank of the associate professor requires:
• A minimum of five full-length research papers (not extracted from M.S. thesis or Ph.D. dissertation), published in refereed international journals.
• The five full-length research papers must be in the area of specialization with a minimum of three publications in the last five years.
• The applicant must be the first author in at least three of the five publications mentioned above.
• Serving as an assistant professor for at least four academic years at a university, college, or institution.
